Is this the first time that a previous contestant has been called down a second time?

Last year, on February 27, 2008, we had a contestant who claimed she was a contestant in 1978, and she played Plinko.

Gas Money is easily the coolest new game I've seen since MoL's debut in '06!

More or Less debuted in 2007, not 2006.

Well the time has finally come.  Several small observations about this show:

- Drew's entrance was very childish!  What was that all about?  Come on Drew!  We know you can do better.  Walk out professionally like a host should.

- The first game was spoiled in High Definition by the little game table on the front of the stage.

- Why did they not use the little "numbers" on the Most Expensive game?  It looked very awkward.  Especially when she said "That one" instead of "#3!"

- Gas Money has a beautiful set and I like the little old fashioned bell.  I thought Drew could have done a better job explaining the game and he did not put enough into the suspense of the reveal.  This is where I start to miss Bob.

- The new Wheel is not bad.  I don't know what the mystery purple wheel is, but this appears to be ok.

Something just doesn't sit right with me yet.  I've tried to avoid reading all of the news about the changes coming up so I could form my own opinion, but something felt different today.  I can't quite put my finger on it just yet.  Looking forward to tomorrow's show.

The new website design here is really nice!

Very good season premiere today, and it was nice to have a proper season premiere this year.  It was nice to see ME for three cars again, but it looked kinda odd without the backdrops.  Gas Money was pretty cool, too, and I liked the sound effect played when money was won.  And, yay!  The Big Wheel actually matches the set!

OVERALL: 4.5/5.

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

It's the first time I had to watch an episode on CBS.com. I just moved in to college and, in the 5 weeks I've been here, I haven't gotten this damned new VCR to work! And since I had a class at 11am today (Monday's the only day in which that happens), I had to miss the show. But alas, thank goodness for CBS.com.

Most Expensive- Wasn't expecting to see this played for 3 cars again; it was a good surprise, though! I would've gone with the Impala, much like her first instinct.

Plinko- The only pricing game I didn't see because CBS.com wouldn't let me, so I can only comment based on Joe's recap. It's too bad he only won $1,000.

Gas Money- I love the set piece, it really looks cool. The new sound effect is pretty nice, as well. But, I don't know, I just found it a bit rushed and too easy.

Squeeze Play- Pretty easy, nothing more.

Money Game- I was half-expecting to see the back behind 37 at the end of the game, but not while she was playing it.

Pick-a-Pair- Easy, as usual.

SCSD 2: Our first $1.00 for the season and hoping to see many more in the near future.

Showcases: Those were some pretty nice showcases, especially how they had to leave the trailer out in the Television City parking lot! Although, I must say, I'm not too fond of Rich recaping everything that was in the showcase at the end of the prize descriptions.

Another first-time poster here!  I figured I'd throw in my thoughts on the first show of the new season.

Most Expensive:  Like 3StrikesFan, I was also shocked that the first game of the day was Most Expensive and not Triple Play.  I had the game nailed, but unfortunately Jasmine didn't stick with her gut.

Plinko:  Ouch!  I thought for sure Nathan had $10,000 with that last chip, but it moved over at the last second!

Gas Money:  Hooray!  It was won on its premiere!  I like the gas station set too.  The game had me fooled, though; I thought the price was $23,160.  I'm really beginning to enjoy this game, and I hope they play it frequently.

SCSD1:  Interesting touch-up on the wheel.  I can't tell if I like the new color scheme better or not.

Squeeze Play:  For me, it was practically a 33% chance, but fortunately I (and Yvette) guessed right!

Money Game:   What?!  I thought for sure the 37 was only up there because it's the 37th season, similar to what they've done with 35 and 36 the last two years.  I was shocked to find that they were the last two numbers in the price!  Kelly apparently doesn't know the "Paint and fabric protection rule," which tipped me off that the last two numbers would not be a multiple of five.  Still, I would have guessed 51 or 72.

Pick a Pair:  Easy, as usual.

SCSD2:  Yay!  Our first money winner on the wheel!

Showcases:  The cars were pretty easy, but that trailer was screaming "Garf!"  The outdoor prize shoot was a neat idea, but I don't think I'd want to see it done regularly.

My SC Bids:
Cars:  $50,000 (Diff: $2,791)
:frts:  $70,000 (Diff: $12,285)

I would have sent these bids to BuddyTom to join CSS, but I, like many others, experienced "technical difficulties" and couldn't get into the site.

Don't have much time to discuss it, but I'll write what I can.

When I first tuned in, I was sorely disappointed that McCain decided to pick this day and time to hold a town meeting where I am currently staying. Fortunately, it didn't last too long, so I only missed Most Expensive and Plinko.

Very happy to catch Gas Money, and I love the game. My favorite has to be that clang. I just love it. Gameplay-wise, excellent and fun. Hopefully, we'll get to see it happen more often. But I agree that Drew should have taken more time to explain the rules more clearly.

The new wheel design...so pwetty...I can't stop looking. Unfortunately, I was not in a good position to see both this screen and the TV easily, so I missed the magical floating sign.

Leave it to such a position and the fact that I was loving the new set so much, I forgot this wasn't a MDS and put SC2 at over $100,000! :p But I couldn't help it. MDS set + freakin' huge trailer = no concentration.

I wholeheartedly approve! Bring on some more!

Also, they said that there are 37 slots on a roulette wheel, but there are really 38:  the zero, the double zero, and 1-36.

Easy there, partner.  Not all roulette wheels are created equal.

The American roulette wheel has two zeroes.

The European roulette wheel has only one zero.

Now, which one is Monte Carlo in again?

Also, did anyone else notice that Jasmine wasn't quite as on the ball about her "Dream Car" as she could have been?  She said "Ooh, the Impala!  That's my dream car...wait, what was the car behind (door) #2 again?"  Um...that would be the Impala, my dear.

Did anybody else notice the two errors during the showcases?  The skin for the San Antonio trip showed places like the Mayan pyramid that are nowhere near San Antonio.  Also, they said that there are 37 slots on a roulette wheel, but there are really 38:  the zero, the double zero, and 1-36.
There are some gaming jurisdictions that use single-zero roulette wheels.

Overall, very enjoyable show. I'm glad a lot of the rumors that were going around before the season opened weren't true.

I'd say it's more along the lines of "they ended up not happening" than of "they weren't true."

Just out of curiosity, how many times before this episode has a product from Apple been presented by name, as the MacBook Air was today?  I know they have an Apple store near the studio, and I seem to recall the prior Apple prizes being unsponsored, and unnamed (although it was obvious what they were).
Let's all take a deep breath.
Wise words.

The big wheel there IMO is ok though not great. And those cues for the cars there weren't pretty sounds to hear.

French aka "international/non-American" has 37 because we don't have the double zero. American casinos added it in to make the odds even worse.

I loved Most Expensive for 3 cars. Loved Gas Money. Loved seeing Mary come back and win it all. Good show.

Is this the first time that Most Expensive was played without its 1-2-3 prize backdrops?

s that the first time that we see the prizes outdoors?
As previously mentioned, it happened before.

t was cool to see ME played first and for three cars yet.  [W]asn't the last time they did that on ob's birthday special?
The last time it happened was the Season 35 premiere.  Also, on Bob's birthday special it was One Wrong Price that was played for three cars.

Game #1 (#6,922)

Foreward
Welcome to Season 37!

To start off my ninth season of watching the show regularly, I have the daily record high and record low modeling totals from the past eight seasons.  Over the past summer, I have finished compiling modeling totals and showcase prices from Seasons 29 and 30.

I have also learned that Rachel and Brandi have already outmodeled Claudia Jordan's $21,405,000 over the course of her 477 episodes.  Rachel took 420 episodes, passing it on June 4, 2008 and Brandi took 474 episodes, passing it on July 7, 2008.  And speaking of the number 477, this is Brandi's 477th episode.  Shane Stirling will be the next model to outmodel Claudia.

Any new record high modeling totals will be in large, green text with an asterisk, even if the modeling total is still five digits.  Six-digit modeling totals will still be in large, green text.  Any new record low modeling totals will be in large, red text with an asterisk, even if the modeling total is still five digits.  Four-digit modeling totals will be in large, red text.

And then, your modeling total guy, Jacob Wilkey, is off and running with pricing his prizes!

Gas Money...
...looks like a pretty good game to play, and here's a point of interest:  you have seen Brandi model her 500th car!  Here's to 2,000 more wheels, Brandi!

Showcase #1
The last trip to San Antonio...well, this was before Rich could describe his first prize, and this was even before Rachel could model her first prize, the last trip to San Antonio was on March 19, 2003 at a price of $1,478.  This one is $6,331.
Trip to London - $5,200
2 Chevrolet Malibus - $20,630 each

Showcase #2
LCD TV - $1,199
Trip to Monte Carlo - $10,326
- In Season 36, the average price for the seven trips to Monte Carlo was $9,795.  Prices ranged from $7,812-$12,045.
Jayco Designer Trailer - $70,760

Total show prize value:  $343,576 (26 prizes)

Your Modeling Scorecard for September 22, 2008
Daily Records
High:  $88,871 (Shane Stirling, 2003)
Low:  $15,154 (Ashley Coleman, 2004)

Brandi Sherwood
Total dollars:
$100,508
There's a six-digit modeling total on September 22!  This is more than $88,871, but there's more.
($69,815 won, $30,693 lost)
Total prizes:  13 (10-3)
Cars, Trips: 3, 3 (2-1, 2-1)

Tamiko Nash
Total dollars:
$113,949
Another six-digit modeling total!
($61,637 won, $52,312 lost)
Total prizes:  9 (7-2)
Cars, Trips: 4, 1 (2-2, 1-0)

Rachel Reynolds
Total dollars:
$140,887*
YET ANOTHER SIX-DIGIT MODELING TOTAL!  A NEW SEPTEMBER 22 RECORD!
($47,737 won, $93,450 lost)
Total prizes:  10 (7-3)
Cars, Trips: 2, 2 (1-1, 2-0)

You see that green asterisk on Rachel's modeling total?  Rachel has modeled more than $88,871, therefore breaking the September 22 record set by Shane Stirling in 2003 by just more than $52,000!  Oh, and the last time there were three six-digit modeling totals in one episode was on September 20, 2004, the Season 33 premiere.
