Well, apparently the Three Strikes rule modification does not change the difficulty of this game. It is still just as tough to win, with just 4:3 odds of winning (assuming that each number drawn on that particular digit's first pull is placed correctly the first time).

Well at least we know the 3 Strikes change wasn't Drew's fault.  He said today that they're trying to speed things up and that he had nothing to do with it.  I know some of you pointed fingers to him after he called it "tedious".  After seeing this change in action, I don't mind it.  Although when they change it to the one strike chip/first number given rule (later on in the year), I'll be a bit more satisfied.

Rest of the show wasn't bad I guess.

Today's show is troubling me...I am beginning to dislike more and more.

I got in a REAL BAD MOOD when Three Strikes began.  I booed right along with the audience...and it was played for a "regular' car!  Drew apologized but maybe the producers would not have changed the rule he he hadn't whined like he did last week.  If the rules do change back to one strike (as it has been reported), then this contestant should complain that she was the ONLY ONE that they made the rules hard for.

Then I really disliked it at the end of the show when Drew put down Chase's bid.  He embarrassed the kid!  Even though Chase won it was not nice to redicule a young kid like that.  (a minor thing but I also dislike the recapping of the prizes at the end of the showcase---that has got to stop!)

Minus these two events, I guess the show was good (I really didn't care after Three Strikes).

Maybe Chase thought that Melissa overbid on her showcase and he used a bit of strategy.

I know we were warned that the Showcase was going to be dumb this season...but damn, I never expected it would be this bad.  The first showcase had no discernable theme to it -- yes, the scene with the telescope looking at Tamiko was funny, but there was nothing tying the whole thing together -- and Port o' Price was just butchered, with a stupid opening and prize introductions that didn't even make sense.  They've really got to stop this...at best, it's not going to help, and at worst, it's going to cause people to change the channel.  I'd even go so far as to say they should pull out the rest of the episodes in the can before they air and have Rich redub the showcases with something more logical.

The goofy IUFB introductions are wearing out their welcome pretty quickly, too.  Things like "For the athlete in the family..." aren't so bad, but things like "Get out the barbecue sauce, Drew..." don't even sound natural, and I understand we're going to be hearing much more of the latter than the former.

I believe the error in Clock Game was that Terrell never actually said the price -- her last bids were in the 850s, not the 860s.

So...3 Strikes is now harder, so they're playing it for the cheapest car it's offered in about 15 years.  Oh, yeah, that makes sense. :rollold:   The game itself was still good, though, and I do like that they brought back the second and third strike chips, even if they only survived for one episode.

...and really, maybe I should just stop complaining and cherish the game while it's still here.  So far, there seems to be every indication that 3 Strikes is only going to be played one more time.

Back toward the end of last season, someone mentioned to me that he thought Drew was looking over top of the cards in Money Game to see what was behind them before he revealed them.  I didn't see at the time why that was a problem, but after this show, I do -- you could almost tell just from the way Drew was talking before he pulled out the 25 that it was the last two numbers.

Well, apparently the Three Strikes rule modification does not change the difficulty of this game. It is still just as tough to win, with just 4:3 odds of winning (assuming that each number drawn on that particular digit's first pull is placed correctly the first time).

Oh, on the contrary, it's very much harder.  There's a pretty good analysis of why back in one of the threads from when this change was first announced.

Well at least we know the 3 Strikes change wasn't Drew's fault.  He said today that they're trying to speed things up and that he had nothing to do with it.  I know some of you pointed fingers to him after he called it "tedious".

Drew may not have directly ordered the game to be changed, but I'm still pretty sure that stupid remark last Tuesday is what spurred it.

It's In The Bag...Eighty-two cents separate the last two bags? EVIL!

Okay...NOW Three Strikes sucks. Taking ANYTHING from the shortest-lived version of them all is NEVER a good sign (although the black floor on the MDS'...that ruled).

I really disliked it at the end of the show when Drew put down Chase's bid.  He embarrassed the kid!  Even though Chase won it was not nice to ridicule a young kid like that.

Um...he made a stupid bid (the unwritten rule of Showcases is that you should NEVER bid less than $12,000) and Drew called him out for being stupid. Had he BID $12,000-$15,000 we wouldn't be mocking the idiot.

Heck, even trying the excuse of him only bidding on the motorcycle can't work as that Showcase (usually "Train Depot/Port O' Price" is less than $19,000) had some DOB-OIDS in that thing.

For the Showcases...oy. HORRIBLENESS! Port O' Price's classic (wonderful) introduction/closing was BUTCHERED!

And just think...it's very likely only going to get worse as the year progresses. And there's the uncertainty of a Season 38 even HAPPENING.

All this says...I miss Roger.

I really don't know what the right words are for my thoughts on today's show. I mean it had it's good moments and then some dumb moments. At first after hearing the change of 3 Strikes, I thought it sounded really stupid. If it ain't broke don't fix it. After seeing today's playing, I don't think the game change was that bad. Although I still don't understand why they won't let it be played for Cadillacs, Lincolns, etc.

Showcases: Boy they are getting dumber and dumber. It's practically like watching the first couple seasons of Price. In the beginning the showcases didn't have themes nor did the prize combinations tie together.

BTW, what was the reason for changing the concept of the showcases?

The weird 3 Strikes playing & then the subtle disturbance I felt in today's SCs I see I do not share alone. The writing isn't going to be fixed anytime soon... :(

On the other hand, not a bad show, enough to make up for the above and make it a

B.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

I felt the pause after the cut to Tamiko being spied on was kind of awkward. For a moment, I thought it was an intro to the next prize until they went back to the telescope.

As for Chase's low bid, I thought Drew was just doing some harmless teasing, much as Bob did. (The $9000 surfboards comes to mind.) That's just my opinion.

I don't mind the new 3 Strikes rules at all; it speeds the game up considerably and maintains its difficulty at the same time.  I didn't THINK that it was gonna be played for an '09 Ford Mustang though.

All right, these "cutesy" little introductions before every one-bid have got to be thrown into the waters of the Corpus Christi Bay (in layman's terms, they must go); they're not original, and they're not even helping out the contestants one bit.  Also, these Showcase descriptions can join the one-bid descriptions in the Corpus Christi Bay too; it takes the "classic" element out of the Showcases.  Now I admit that some of it is actually pretty funny, but otherwise, they don't do a thing to help out the bidders.  In fact, I think it's a way to THROW OFF a bidder.  I'm not one who agrees with very many people, but I think Willy's right in saying that TPIR is about to pull a Fonzie and jump the shark.  :-x

I don't think any such thing has actually been said, but with the ratings in the state they're in right now, it's certainly not outside the realm of possibility.

Granted, with the state of daytime being the way it is, nothing is safe anymore....I do believe Days of Our Lives is seriously on the chopping block for 2009. How are the numbers, as of this season?
