Sorry I'm chiming in so late on my thoughts. I just now found this thread. It's stupid that they are getting rid of a game that really doesn't have any outstanding flaws. Now I for one do not care for the game all that much, but it still is pissing me off that they are just getting rid of the games one by one. First it was 3 Strikes, then Buy or Sell, now it's Barker's Bargain Bar. You would think that since owning the show since Season 29 that Fremantle would know how to run this show. Fremantle is changing so much at one time that it is becoming quite unenjoyable to watch the show anymore, even though I still plan to watch the show. Sometimes I've wondered lately of what Mark Goodson is thinking about Fremantle's doings in game show heaven.
What the PTB have been doing with the show is utterly
capital! First, Penny Ante is left in the rain and ruined, and is retired (which means that we'll never hear of 'Drew Pennies'), then we very rarely see Secret X (I don't know what it is, but when I see a prize of a living room or spa or something like that, I expect to see Secret X, not Pick-A-Number or Pick-A-Pair), now, they're getting rid of Barker's Bargain Bar. Why couldn't they call it "Drew's Discounts" or some other name to that effect for Drew Carey, instead of removing it entirely?! Somehow, I think that Fremantle is hastening "TPIR" to an early cancellation, considering all the changes, another one of which is signing off as "A FremantleMedia Production." Hello?! There is already a Fremantle logo on it just before the squeezed credits-- it's unnecessary to use the same logo twice. The sale of "TPIR" to Fremantle, considering all the changes, should never have been allowed.
