May 2009 Taping and season 38 (according to CBS.com)
« on: December 24, 2008, 06:57:14 PM »
Just so everybody knows, there will be a season 38 of The Price is Right. The first show of season 38 will be taped at either 1 PM or 4 PM on May 27, 2009.

Just because they schedule tapings does not guarantee a new season.

True, I am sure John or Marc will confirm for us if there will be a new season.

Not to be rude or anything like that, but we really don't need Marc or John to confirm for us that there will be a season 38. It's very safe to say that the show is not in any trouble of being canned. As was demonstrated approximately a month ago, the ratings aren't down as much as most people think.

They're still the lowest they've ever been...and actually, yes, I do think that was a bit rude.  I think it's a little premature at this point to declare that Season 38 is a sure thing.

And was it really necessary to bump a two-and-a-half-week-old thread just to say that?

I was well within the 30-day limit and I don't need you to lecture me on bumping a thread; I know the rules of the forums. My post wasn't meant to be rude or disrespectful at all - I know that Marc & John have both provided us with a great deal of behind-the-scenes info, pictures, etc and have been great to all of us, but we don't have to first get confirmation that the show will be around for season 38. It's definitely not too premature to declare season 38 a sure thing. Some TV shows are being renewed for new fall seasons right now, more in May. Just because the ratings are the lowest they've ever been, doesn't mean they're red alarm low.

And yet Price hasn't.  So while I think the chances of not having a Season 38 are low, yes, it is too early to declare it a sure thing.

As long as "The Guiding Light" is still on, I don't fear too much for Price.
