I'm not being facetious in the slightest when I say that unless the Christmas week had been such a good week of shows, I probably would have dropped off watching the show by now. Man, I'm looking forward to getting the show back when the tapedates catch up.
I sensed from the way Drew handled Money Game that he knew ten was the correct choice for the last two numbers. He put no emotion into it whatsoever. It's a good thing Caren mentioned something about the ten before he revealed it. It made it seem somewhat more genuine for him to display a reaction to it being the correct choice.
I really wish Drew would not encourage contestants to dance around as the mountain climber ascends the mountain. I shouldn't have to give a reason beyond it's unbelievably stupid, but if I must offer another reason, it's because it takes the focus off the game. It is a critical part of the game to pay attention to how far the mountain climber has climbed. It's enough amusement in itself to just watch him climb. Nothing needs to be added to it.
And, Drew, please, even just once, would you please call the mountain climber "the mountain climber" and not, "yodeley guy"?
Clearance Sale had quite the difficult setup. If anything, I wouldn't have expected the laptop computer to be so inexpensive compared to the luggage.
Actually, Drew, I would think that you would know how Now.... or Then is played by now.
I didn't like how Drew was displaying so much favour towards Elizabeth in the second half of the show. Sure, she had been there since the start of the show, but his remarks were coming off in such a way that it almost seemed like he was rooting for her over the other contestants, something Drew should never do because he should should have no bias. Plus, it's stupid to go on and on about one of the first four contestants when there's still two or three rounds of bidding left. It's not like it's come to "do or die" yet.
Drew needs to get back up on not getting so down with losses. He didn't even handle the Side by Side win very excitedly after the One Away loss.
Aside from the lack of a proper introduction, the first Showcase was fine as far as formatting goes; but the theme itself was just plain dumb. The second Showcase wasn't much better, though it did have perfect formatting: a proper introduction, (somewhat) reasonable segues, and a proper conclusion with no stupid prize recap. It was quite nice to see neither Showcase have any stupid prize recap tacked on at the end. Thank you.
The full credits weren't in the episode on Innertube. Has something changed there?
Today's lineup was solid overall though it could have been slotted better. Here's how I would have slotted: Clearance Sale, Cliff Hangers, Money Game, Side by Side, Now or Then, One Away.
Excellent lineup, Rob.
