The TALK Is Right / Contestant Occupation Advantages/Disadvantages?
« Last post by Nate Powalie on Today at 10:27:10 PM »
Hello again my g-r.net friends.

Okay, I have a question regarding contestants. Do you guys think a certain occupation for a contestant who appears on the show can play to an advantage or disadvantage? If so, what occupations do you think would have an advantage or a disadvantage and why? Let me know! Thanks crew!

Recap posted.

Though....I'm pretty sure this is the first time I have had to note a grocery prize being recalled the day before it airs. That was a surprise. If I could actually read Martinelli's, I'd have never looked that up and found out.

Also, I'm thankful they got through the entire Harry Potter showcase without bringing lady of the irritating bigotry.

The TALK Is Right / Re: Give or Keep speculations

This is a case in which "snazzy" presentation wasn't necessary because Give or Keep did pretty much the same job, but faster.

I've never looked at pricing games as "doing the job".  By that logic, why have Side by Side and Coming or Going when you have Double Prices?  They're all games in which you choose the correct price between two alternatives.  I suppose you could argue they were different in that the former two had conventions for how the two prices were formed, whereas Double Prices has no restrictions on how the the fake is constructed, and that is enough to make the concepts distinct, in contrast to Finish Line which had only "window dressing" that Give or Keep didn't have.

But I still like Finish Line and think it was a good game, even if it did move more slowly; and that's a problem you could have fixed.  Instead of the mechanical gate that moved down the track as slowly as it did, you could have done it Give or Keep style putting up a running total and having a model manually move the gate along the track.  As for the horserace, well... this was no different than Hurdles, but they needed to do a better job at showing the prices of the items placed on the horse to keep tabs on if the correct choice was made or not.  They had these dim lights that lit up as the horse passed the prices of the selected items, but by then you didn't even remember what the price of the item placed on the finish line was and couldn't see them.

Completely unexpected but beyond excited for this!

I'm not surprised at the news.  Given the success of the show, going back about a half-decade, and especially over the past couple of TV years, I expected it.

Not a guarantee prior to the official news, but TPIR at Night just felt perfect in-between the Survivor seasons.  It helps address one's options (at least on CBS) on what to watch during the 2-month Wednesday night hiatus.  It keeps improving year in and year out

I wonder if they will use the Hip Hop squares set and redress it as Hollywood Squares or will they just tape in California.

I'm looking forward to another season of TPIRAN in the winter.

This news was also announced with the return of The Price Is Right At Night with the CBS fall schedule release that jimmyuTPIR shared in the Talk Is Right section, as a Hollywood Squares revival with Drew Barrymore as the center square will be kicking off the network's midseason schedule in January.

she really underestimated the cost of some of the 70s items. putting the board game under 10 was a mistake. (my guess with 13 but I would have understood 11 because of inflation calculation weariness) Obviously there is going to be somewhat of a delay for the recap the east coast broadcast basically being pre-empted during in the bag, I really want to know what that weird green apple juice was) I thought the gadget was also under a common sense estimate (would have put 30 knowing kitchen gadgets are pricey) but that one I at least understood the 25 traditionally in price is right being a good in the middle guess. (like on the cliffhanger)

The Harry Potter showcase was beginning ok, nothing much but something until they started talking about the zip lining, that felt shoehorned in. still you can tell they took time to write it and somehow try to make that nonsense prize (in connection to Harry Potter or even stereotypical wizardry) makes sense with broomstick rising.
