New to Buzzr Sweep episodes starting 8/19
« on: August 21, 2019, 09:11:57 PM »
Sorry I posted late but I figured I'd share ASAP...

Buzzr is now airing Season 4 episodes of Supermarket Sweep in the 8:30pm time slot. The 9:00pm slot stays the same, airing Season 3 eps. This is the beginning of the revamp that included new theme music, the second Mini-Sweep, and the oh-so-rare yellow scoreboards and Mystery Item video screens (that never worked right). Theere's a good chance that the episode airing tomorrow (August 22, 2019, 8:30pm) is #395, OAD 7/16/1993. It looks like it's the last day of the yellow scoreboards before the switch to blue, so catch it while you can!

Live for the present.  Embrace the future.  Our favorite game show is still producing excellent, high quality, exciting, hour-long* shows every weekday throughout its traditional season window.  It’s as good as it’s been in a long, long time.  If the 1980s were the ‘good ole days’ for the Barker era, so is RIGHT NOW for the Carey era.  Don’t worry about what the future holds.  It will play out in due time.  Enjoy what we have right in front of us in the meantime!

Season 4 was also part of the rerun package on Lifetime (along with Season 5) after the final final first run episode aired in June 1995, but it was only shown once. Of course, it also included the new Sweep music as well. I'd wish they'd kept the original Bonus Sweep theme since it seemed to be more dramatic than simply using the regular Sweep cue. It also meant that the sweatshirt colors for teams one and two were switched, and of course, the shopping cart logo began to be much more prominently featured instead of just the Al Howard Productions logo. Finally, this was the season that introduced the Branch's candy bonus and the International Bread Center. I agree that even when I first saw the episodes in 1993, the yellow just seemed to bright in contrast with the scoring displays, so I'm glad it didn't last too long, in addition to the lack of buttons on the TV monitors in the market.

Michael Pannoni, I think you meant Season 5 was rerun briefly after the last first-run Lifetime TV episode aired in 1995. Season 4 saw the debut of the Manager's Special and for a short time had the Double Coupon bonus. Season 5 had the short-lived $100 Cake Decorating and the $100 Recycling Empty Soda Can bonuses, both were retired after that season's 2nd set of Sweep of Champions episodes(though, Season 5 must've ended with either that or the $10,000 Bonus Sweep week, or another week of Mother-Daughter specials) but a couple of times, Lifetime abruptly ended that season's reruns before any of those late season's special weeks were ever rerun. I fondly remember Lifetime rerunning the Season 5 episodes with the yellow sweep time readouts, and the original 30-second shootout where 10 seconds was added for each product their partner correctly guessed, but a week later, went right to the first set of Sweep of Champions episodes of the season and aired several weeks from the 2nd set of 65 episodes of Season 5 episodes after that.

Yes they are.
No, Season 4. 1990 is Season 1, 1991 is Season 2, 1992 is Season 3, and 1993 is Season 4.

No, Season 4. 1990 is Season 1, 1991 is Season 2, 1992 is Season 3, and 1993 is Season 4.
I was right, see, the Season 1 episodes had a higher or lower product pricing AND a trio of products on the table in the first segment then a different trio of items on the table in the second segment and the Round Robin only had a total of 4 questions and the on-screen clock was shown on the upper left corner of the screen. Season 2 saw the Round Robin increased to 6 questions and the debut of the $250 Shopping List bonus and the familiar sound effects debuted this season but still had 2 sets of pricing items. The early Season 3 episodes we've seen recently was when the Mini-Sweep premiered but the $50 Bonus was too easy to get as grabbing any guessed item rewarded $50 to their team's sweep total, which was why they added the specially marked rule only a couple of weeks later. So with that said, Season 2 has the fewest episodes circulating as not many people have recorded anything from Lifetime when Season 2 was airing and the Season 2 Supermarket Sweep episodes had stopped airing by the time Shop 'Til You Drop premiered.

May I offer you some Pepto Bismol? You seem to have a case of verbal diarrhea going right now.
