*picks up megaphone*
The Price is Right doing something it used to do when there was a limited selection of games is not jumping the shark. It isn't as if they've never played a game five times in a week before.
*puts down megaphone*
-Different era with not as many games, more excusable
-It was Double Prices, allowing longer games to be played, not clogging all the cash, most of the SPs, and suffocating the lineup in general around it

Completely different. And month long event, maybe... but with 28's suggestion. I think we all could have accepted an April of weekly, 100k Plinkos.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

I liked Plinko week.  I wouldn't want to see it done all the time, but I enjoyed it.  Based on many of the reactions I'm seeing, I think the show needs to start offering therapy sessions as prizes just in case people from this site make it on the show.

The actual retail price is...

Barker's Bargain Bar was obviously a substitute for Switch? this week.

You have absolutely no way of knowing that.  It's perfectly reasonable to assume that Barker's Bargain Bar was in that lineup from the beginning.  I think it's far more likely that Switch? was subbed out of a different show, because I have a hard time believing all five of these lineups originally had Plinko in them.

The Price is Right doing something it used to do when there was a limited selection of games is not jumping the shark. It isn't as if they've never played a game five times in a week before.

They've done it once, when every lineup had the same basic structure and there was only one quick game in the rotation.  That is a completely bullshit defense.

Okay, maybe I should give my overall view of this week...

Overall, Plinko left me disappointed... but I realize that is more because of bad luck with the chips than anything (although there were some setups that were harder than they should have been and contestants who continue to blindly choose the last digit when it's not 5 or 0). That said, I do watch the show because of the large variety of pricing games, and I would have liked to see more SP games in there, which the Plinko thing threw off (which is why I'm glad they threw in 5PT today).

I also had problems with PCH sponsoring the whole thing and the rolling jackpot, but I suppose that could be something that could be fixed if they ever do this again... I'd still rather they don't, but I can live with it if they do.

I think I was more disappointed with the lack of winning in the rest of the week, though. That said, there were some highlights throughout the week: the return of Bargain Game, the amazing Lucky $even win, the other Range Game exacta, chaos in the FPG, and the one big Plinko win we did get this week. If only she played it today instead of on Monday...  :P

So the whole consensus states, in the way of the Price Is Right Bible (because it's so sacred, no offense), "Thou shalt not produce nor create a gimmick for the purposes of winning unless the gimmick is reasonable at producing or creating a believable win." Did I get that right?

Don't lump all of us into one group.  I personally and actually LOVE THE FACT they played TAGS 2nd today.  I will choose to believe that this was done because this board started playing the FPG again and that Tags/Magic were played because those players knew of Switch?'s consistent playing each week and that who in the world would take another SP game knowing full well Plinko was going to be played on that day.  As I stated in the FPG Results thread, the only thing that would have made it even more precious is if in fact Grand had showed up 4th or 5th.

All the crap some of us took years ago for thinking that the current staff didn't get it (for whatever reason) and we get a show like we did today, which had 6PG,2SCSD,1W which most of you touted as all we needed to have a solid show, makes me crazy as a naked person shouting near a telephone pole.  I admit that not all of you felt this way, but sheesh.

I will admit that the Plinkopalloza stunt was not at all something that should be repeated ever IMO, and maybe Steve is right and they simply replaced Plinko with all the SP games besides today, the rationale that this week was the week that "jts" is just plain wrong.

With the possible exception of the uncontrollable Plinko chip, I'll take forced wins of the like in Magic and the no one here can seriously dispute the forced win with only one tag to be picked in 5PT ANY DAY AND EVERY DAY.  Also see CoG.

Good on you AS.  Check your email please.

Speaking of playing Five Price Tags 2nd, I would like to see it in the 2nd half more often. I think it works well 5th or 6th.

I'm not defending this week. It sucked. But I'm not going to look back on this week and say this was the beginning of the end.

5PT should be set up for 2-3 tags, not 1.

I would've liked to have seen the $80K offered for a DSW.
