Bad luck in Plinko today.  Can't say I like the colored filters over the lights.

Push Over should have been won, especially since that island is a frequent prize.

I'd comment on what happened before IUFB #3, but Drew told me not to mention it.
Joanne was close to a win on More or Less today, but the car price was tricky.

Great win on 1 Right Price after a heartbreaking 1st half.

Steven made some good guesses in Check-out today.  I haven't seen someone get that close in a while.

Nice for Drew to mention El Cheapo in Money Game.  The "season" number is up to its old tricks again.

SCs:
$26,250 (-$8,003)
$21,250 (OVER)

So far, we are 0 for 6 for car wins.  I hope the rest of the season is better than this.

Thankfully the amazing Check-Out win and Steven's dollar on the wheel made up for a rough Plinko playing and El Cheapo striking in Money.

You know..................It really amazes the mind that on C-O, someone like Steven, who ridiculously overprice the ramen, would win the game by a penny. That has gotta be a real WTF moment of today, because I bet no one was expecting him to win that. That tooth whitener really did help him a lot.

And also, a good amount of these games were not that hard to begin. MoL and Money Game were some good examples. I sure was rooting for Joanne to win all the way on MoL, but unfortunately, she had to say MORE on the Mustang. Money Game should never been a loss, especially with El Cheapo out in the open. I do not want to get into with Pushy...........Much less, Plinko (despite it being a horrible case of bad luck with Justin leaving here with $100).

And the SCs............Yeesh! On the first one, how is a Powerboat considered "living life on the fast lane" on a Showcase that requires high gear and/or horsepower? I would assumed at least a sports car for the final prize, but for them to turn it into a  :frbs: Who in God's name writes stuff like that, I ask you? Who?! (sighing while SMH)

THE BOTTOM LINE:

2/6 wins, with the exception of C-O being the highlight of today. I really hope we don't get a car washout on the first week of S43........That would be unusually bad.

It's such a shame Steven didn't win a car at all today, because he was a very good player for the most part, especially missing the C-O total by just a penny.

1. It is not an FRBS. (and 2 explains why)
2. A power boat is fast enough to fit the criteria.

My two cents:

Plinko: Tough luck.
Push Over: I knew the kitchen island was no less than $5K. Too bad Valorie didn't.
More or Less: 3 out of 4 isn't too bad. The Mustang-- It could've gone either way.
One Right Price: Good win!
Check-Out: WOW! After a few seemingly controversial bids, off by only a penny! And kudos to Steven for winning his Showcase after a very low bid!
Money Game: Tough break. I knew that Cruze would be $19,605 (especially the El Cheapo).

Showcases: I prefer the High Horsepower Showcase. I'm not a trip person. I'd rather have a motorcycle and a powerboat.

Great show today in spite of the low winnings. Drew was at the top of his game today, and it's always fun when he mentions El Cheapo. Of course, the real highlight was the Check-Out win--improbable and exciting all at once.

That win in Check-Out is one for the ages. That he was off by only a Penny is more amazing.

Whether intentional or not (I'm guessing not) Check Out was awesome to see play out. I figured that Steven still had a shot despite his Ramen guess, but I certainly didn't think that he'd be within a penny of an exacta. Well done to him today.

It was also great to see Joanne come out with some nice things today too, despite being done in by a Mustang & a surprisingly cheap showcase; curse those hammocks  :oldlol:

While I'm tempted to say Pushover should've been won, I'm not surprised it wasn't (aren't outdoor kitchen islands usually more expensive than $5,994) I am however surprised in how it was lost ($3,599?).

All in all, today was a fun show, even if luck wasn't necessarily with all the contestants.

What horrible luck in Plinko, especially for its 1,000th playing. It's definitely not the worst playing in history, but the worst we've had in a while. Getting zeros on all the rest of his chips after getting an unexciting $100 was just bad luck. Hopefully the next playing will be better.

That was a tricky setup in 1 Right Price. Washer/dryers are pretty expensive nowadays, so I thought the WD was the right choice.

But Check-Out.....that was a miraculous win. He was within just ONE penny! He also ended up winning his showcase! Steven was the highlight of today's show for sure.

Quote
I can feel it, callin' in the air tonight...oh Lord...
And I've been waiting for this moment, for all my life...oh Lord...

Tape Date:  JULY 28, 2014 - AM

The chorus of a certain Phil Collins song rang in my head as I woke up on this particular morning and got myself ready to head out to CBS.  After four years of thoughts that I would never see another Price taping in my lifetime, here I was--back again for my 10th.  Was it the charm, you ask?  Nope...BUT picked or not, win or lose, this taping was special to me in so many ways.

Processing was very different from what I've experienced in years past.  It seemed more streamlined and more efficient than how it used to be in 2010.  Out in the line, the OCA ticket guys--along with CBS pages--came out to take out tickets; we were sorted into several groups, most notably "priority" and "general admission."  As I held a priority ticket for this taping, I was one of the first to get into the lot itself (#005).  After the security lady checked my ID at the gate, I headed into the very familiar waiting lot filled with lots and lots of benches.  Unlike in 2010, however, they played music as I sat down and filled out the usual contestant/audience release paperwork.  Unlike in previous years, you didn't fill out your information on the card perforated onto the Audience Number; you only had to fill out the release form and that was it.  After another round of ID checks, it was time to get my nametag and photos taken--one for the show itself, one for souvenir purposes.  This all happened in a span of just under 90 minutes.

Once we were all ushered to the 2nd set of benches, we got to experience some new things.  After I took my souvenir photo, I had the option on whether I wanted a copy of it now (a physical one) or not; so I bought me a physical copy. Afterwards, the pages passed out a lunch menu chalk-full of catered goods like personal quesadillas or pizzas; even though it was cash only and cost me around $20, my lunch on this day was...actually not that bad.  It was a really cool touch though for the TPiR folks to have food catered to us as we were waiting in the line--it made the experience much more enjoyable in my book.  So after the food was ordered and the usual rules and regs spiel, we were ushered to the 3rd set of benches for the interview.  Yep, Stan was back...and he actually recognized me even though my last taping was four years prior to this one.  So after the interviews were all set, we went to the final set of benches to get our food and happily munch as several Price shows from the previous season were played on the HD monitors prior to entering the studio.

Once inside the studio itself...I was so amazed by the changes that they had made to the set for Season 43.  Gone were the "archway" borders to the doors, replaced by the new "Barker Era"-style borders used in the first 35 seasons of the show.  Each of the three frames and doors were backlit to match their respective color schemes.  As for the other technical aspects of the taping itself, it ran 30 minutes longer than usual because of a few pickups, including an entire reshoot of a calldown.  Gameplay-wise, it felt more like an episode you typically see in midseason instead of a premiere week--with perhaps the most exciting Check-Out win in a long time.  That really caught me off-guard.  The sentimental favorite amongst the audience members (myself included) was Joanne from Wisconsin; I actually got to talk to the "Team Grandma" group before the show began.  Joanne was such a nice lady, but it was too bad she got caught with a $20K showcase and overbid.

After the show ended, "Cleveland Rocks" and "I Love L.A." were played as we exited.  After I left the front gate and started heading back to my room, I looked up at the sky, closed my eyes, and said:

"Mom...I did it.  I didn't get picked, but I did it."

And somewhere from that Heavenly Hotel front desk (she  worked at the front desk of an Irving hotel most of her life), my mom was looking down at me and grinning the whole time I was at the taping.

Care to explain what happen during the first take that caused it to be reshot?

(If it's another one of those "we didn't like how that went, so do it again" kind of deals, then they really need to stop doing that.)

Someone had goofed up the shot on a calldown (can't remember which one though).
