Range: I had a feeling Jessica jumped the gun on hitting the red button.

Cu: Tyren (unintentionally) tried to get at least three chances in because of that 2nd digit, but that strategy backfired today.

P!: All Flora needed was the first chip to hit the $10K slot.

Double: As easy as it will get.

Clock: Even though Edward started out too high on the laptop, he played the PG well.

StD: Won for 2nd (& likely final) time this season!

SCSD #2: Not only did we have a perfect 2nd half, each has a relative who previously won the Showcase Rd.!

Showcases: I had a bad feeling Brooke wouldn't repeat her mom's DSW magic from '79 as soon as she bid $25K on the rm./trips showcase.

Good show today on Memorial Day.

Before I begin:

This was the first time I was in Chat AND was watching at the same time in a long time.

Furthermore: I want to apologize for my silly behavior in said chat due to the CSS Playoffs staring today. Bad Lance!

Now on to the Recap:

This was a tale of two shows today. I knew that the first half was skunked when I saw 29, 549 as the first guess in CU.

The second half has a Tech win in Plinko(always good to see) and stack being won seems like an "almost" forced win, but I will take it.

Man, did I miss that Mountain Showcase by miles!!!!!! I was way over 40k!!!!!!!

How on earth was the first half "skunked"?! At a stretch it was a "winless" first half to the purists who think that a pricing game is a loss unless all announced prizes were won, but you certainly can't call a $10,200 win in a pricing game a total loss.
Won $79,525 on my first Host Your Own game.

You got me there. Plinko wasn't a "win" but we all know a center shot in Plinko is a WIN! was not counting the Small Prizes ;D ;D

The Yamaha bike is $3,290 according to whinbaby's recap of the March 31 show.

The Kawasaki KFX90 is $2,599 according to Kawasaki's website.
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

Plinko is only won if the full $50,000 is won, as it is the game's maximum advertised prize provided in the announcer's description. The amount described must be won for the game to be won. Today, as with every other playing in the game's history, has been lost.

It's fine if you wish to call it a win between $10,000 and $41,000, for the non-purist definition, and for probable outcome purposes, but just know you aren't right. Which brings me to this:

How on earth was the first half "skunked"?! At a stretch it was a "winless" first half to the purists who think that a pricing game is a loss unless all announced prizes were won, but you certainly can't call a $10,200 win in a pricing game a total loss.

A winless first half would imply bailouts, like in Let 'em Roll or Step Up. This simply isn't true, and to call the first half skunked, like it or not, is accurate, based upon precedent, and staff bookkeepings, barely a stretch of anything. Furthermore, $10,000 is a loss in Punch-a-Bunch, for additional history. For the purposes of this discussion, ignoring the immaterial $1,200, there is no reason that amount should be deemed a win in either game.

THE BAD NEWS:

Range Game: Wasn't expecting a trip to Finland to be a prize...Wasn't expecting a win from it, though, even when Jessica wasn't entirely sure on when to stop.

Cover Up: A Canadian (Tyran) playing for a Patriot...What are the odds?  :P Although, he didn't win it, he shouldn't feel bad about it since he got a Mustang convertible in the end.

THE NOT-SO-BAD NEWS:

Plinko: A pretty good haul by Flora! Surprised she didn't drop any of the chips in the middle.

THE GOOD NEWS:

DP: A easy win by Miriam!

Master Key Clock Game: Almost got scared when Edward went high on that cheap laptop...But he sure did prevail today!

Stack The Deck:  8-O That's the kind of expression I had today. You gotta give to Brooke for playing that to the "T" and winning that Fiesta. It sure was a "fiesta" all right when Stack was actually won. Good job by Brooke!

THE BOTTOM LINE:

This was a pretty good show today...It did started off rocky with the Range and C-U losses, but it picked up with the rest of the lineup. It was pretty cool that the 3 winners from the 2nd half have relatives that won Showcases in the past.

This simply isn't true, and to call the first half skunked, like it or not, is accurate, based upon precedent, and staff bookkeepings, barely a stretch of anything.

Actually, no. It was not skunked, and it is not accurate to call it that. $11,200 classifies as a "partial win", a skunking does not solely imply bailouts - it also includes partial wins. Even if all 5 games were lost and only $100 was "won" in Plinko, it would still not be a skunked show.

It's fine if you wish to call it a skunk because it was not won, but just know you aren't right. :)

Range Game: I sensed before the reveal that today's contestant had stopped the rangefinder too soon. Too bad that nice Finland trip wasn't won. But at least the iPhone 6s were a fantastic contestants row prize to start off the week.

Cover Up: Going for getting the second number wrong is a good strategy on the first turn but not the second turn. This playing shows why it is not a good strategy on the second turn. It's really a shame the Jeep Patriot wasn't won.

Plinko: $11600 is definitely a good haul.

Double Prices: Clearly setup to be won. The SunBrite TV was an excellent prize and the beachcomber hot tub was decent.

Clock Game: Today's contestant played Clock Game exceptionally well. He played at a good pace and used good intervals to zero in on the price with both the sunglasses and the laptop. Even though he overestimated the laptop his gameplay approach was really good. Really enjoyed this segment. The HP laptop was a nice prize and the Yamaha off road vehicles were a strong bonus prize. Clock Game is one of my favorite games so it was great to see it played so well. I had thought this was going to be segment of the day but.....

Stack the Deck: Today's contestant demonstrated exemplary gameplay in Stack the Deck both in terms of doing a good job with pricing and making intelligent choices for the free digits. Even Drew commented a few times while the gameplay was in progress on how well today's contestant was doing. To see such an a wonderful playing of Stack the Deck was totally awesome baby! :) It was awesome to see the Ford Fiesta won.

Showcases: The Ford Mustang showcase was definitely the better showcase and I'm thrilled to see it won! :)

Overall: 3 full wins including a car game win, $11,600 won on Plinko, some of the best gameplay we've seen in Clock Game and Stack the Deck, and a Mustang showcase being won definitely made this a very good show.
Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Magic Number.

I thought a half or show was only skunked if nothing was won or nothing was won expect SPs and/or nominal money amounts in Money Game and Any Number. Plinko was not won but the $11600 prevented a first half skunking.

Not a bad show today.

I do wonder about what Drew was talking about during Stack the Deck. I saw the lights around the last digit did not work, but the way he talked it sounded like it blew out in a spectacular fashion. I rewound it four or five times and still could not figure it out.
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.
