Such a low note to end the year. There isn't much more I can say that hasn't already been said. Betty was the indisputable queen of game shows and an absolute icon of the entertainment industry. The password is legend.

The actual retail price is...

I've been watching Betty White my entire life. So has my mom and Grandma, not to mention my great grandparents enjoyed her too. She will always be a National Treasure. She's with the other Golden Girls, her Match Game co-stars, and, of course, Allen Ludden.

RIP to a legend.

Definitely a very sour note to end 2021. Betty was a treasure, and it hurts even more knowing she was just a few weeks away from turning 100.

Wow. Buzzr was going to do a 100th birthday salute to her the weekend of January 15 (all day Saturday of her on Match Game, all day Sunday of her on Password and all day of her Monday on various shows). I wonder how they'll handle it now.
I guess they'll either keep that weekend and Monday and make it a tribute instead or move it up to next weekend. I assume GSN will do a tribute as well.

Along with Buzzr and GSN I also expect MeTV to do a little tribute for her sitcom roles.

if TV Land or some other similar channel don't air Golden Girls, it'd be a shame

They already do air reruns. So does CMT and The Hallmark Channel.

I have stickied Betty's obituary thread for the time being, at least until after her birthday. It's the least that could be done, given her tremendous contribution to the game show community.

Betty White IMHO will always be a national treasure. She is funny no matter which series she was in. But if I had to say which one she was the funniest I would say Golden Girls by a slim margin.

This one stings. A lot. She dazzled the screen for decades in so many ways, from the Mary Tyler Moore Show, to The Golden Girls, to SNL, to all those game shows, like Password, Pyramid, Match Game, and others, that one would be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't even heard the name. She had that friendly presence about her, one who could relax even the most nervous contestant in the Winner's Circle. She was a national treasure, as others here have said. We'll have no choice but to take solace in the fact that after 40 years, she's reunited with her sweetheart, Allen Ludden, and with her Golden Girls, happily sharing fond memories.

Thank you for being a friend, Betty. Rest in peace.

Live for the present.  Embrace the future.  Our favorite game show is still producing excellent, high quality, exciting, hour-long* shows every weekday throughout its traditional season window.  It’s as good as it’s been in a long, long time.  If the 1980s were the ‘good ole days’ for the Barker era, so is RIGHT NOW for the Carey era.  Don’t worry about what the future holds.  It will play out in due time.  Enjoy what we have right in front of us in the meantime!

Betty White was one of my childhood icons, so her passing ranks up there with Alex Trebek 14 months ago. Betty White wasn't just a first lady in game shows, but also one in the television scene all together. Betty had quick wit, and it showed on a lot of unscripted shows. One of my favorite quotes from her was telling Regis on Million Dollar Password "I slept with the host of Password!" Even then, you can tell that she not only loved Allen Ludden, she remembered him fondly. Even into her 90s on Anthony Anderson's To Tell the Truth, she was still as sassy as ever.

Thanks for everything, Betty. You will be missed.

The upcoming movie in celebration of Betty's 100th birthday will still be released on January 17, according to Insider.

I remarked earlier, but I think she – along with Alex Trebek – are long deserving of Presidential Medals of Freedom. Sadly, both would be posthumous, but it's just more thing that can be done to recognize and honor their accomplishments and impact on American culture and life.

Betty's agent reports she died of natural causes. Some people are trying to claim she died of a COVID booster shot she got three days earlier, but it has been discredited.
