Still wasn’t enough to win the $100,000 prize, but I’m pleased to see another contestant realize that it’s not a good idea to put the least expensive item in the mailbox on Pay the Rent.

(One) winning solution:
Mailbox: bread ($4.79)
First floor: crackers + lotion ($9.98)
Second floor: honey + tuna ($10.98)
Attic: dog food ($11.99)

Same here.

Ohhhh! So close in Line ‘Em Up! And people sure do pick “False” a lot in Five Price Tags.

And so much for all of those theories as to why this episode didn't air on Monday...

Tape Date for today's shown episode was December 7 of last year, as will this upcoming Monday's (9691K) and Tuesday's (9692K). As for the overall show, looked like 5PT was hit with a bit of true-itis. And the cheap Costway room strikes again with IUFB3, which has given many people fits for bidding.

Take that airdate guide update with a grain of salt.

9685K's models are not consistent with the other shows purported to tape that same day. That show has Manuela and James while the other two shows have Rachel and Devin (who were on today). I'm inclined to believe that they forgot to switch the tape dates when they switched the air dates. As such, this should have taped November 30, and 9685K on December 7.

As for why the switch happened, no clue there. The prevailing theory prior was that this show was going to be pretty bad and they didn't want it airing on a federal holiday when more people would be watching, but this show was not terrible - it had 2 wins and a 10K Rent bail, and there were no DOBs this week to suggest the usual switching around. Maybe they just decided that a show where both car games were won would be better for MLK day.

This why we play along with the contestants.  How many times have we sat at home and play this very game and come up with at least two winning solutions to PTR?  I think for each time, we should get $100,000 retroactive from the time PTR started on the show until now and every subsequent playing of this game!

It's a lot easier to come up with winning solutions once you know all of the prices. As for playing along, today was the first time in a while that I was fairly stumped. My usual strategy is to try and identify the second most expensive item, and put it on the bottom, but that wouldn't have worked today as the tuna can't be paired with anything else besides the dog food, which needs to be at the top, in order to be more expensive than the honey.

Haha that was before my time here I think, but remember going through that Host Your Own thread. I'd link to it if I could find it again. I'm trying to use the search function but can't remember enough of the specific words to find it.
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

You know, that Play Along made about as much sense as some of the shows in Season 37. Good memories from 2006... dang, has it really been that long?

Tough luck on Line 'em Up, and a bad case of false-itis on Five Price Tags.
1,685 days until I am re-eligible to be a contestant on The Price Is Right!

No longer a Push Over!
