Cliff on Cliff Hangers
« on: November 19, 2023, 05:58:55 AM »
Now that the mountain climber in Cliff Hangers is apparently appropriately named for the game itself (Cliff), will it be over time that the old Yodely Guy name is gradually phased out, and Cliff becomes the official name of the climber?

Maybe. I was also wondering if, at some point, the two names would be combined for "Yodely Cliff".

Drew might say the object of Cliff Hangers is to keep Cliff also known as Yodely Guy from falling off the cliff.

Cliff the Yodely Guy.

Keeps everything intact, works well.

That's good-- if the Yodely Guy name is not entirely phased out, then combining the two would work quite well.

I'm not questioning the factuality of this information, but would somebody tell me where the mountain climber being named Cliff has been defined as canon?
Roger Dobkowitz's Seven Commandments of The Price Is Right:
1. Tape and edit the show as if it were live.
2. Never tell the contestant what to do.
3. Size matters. (The bigger the prize, the better the prize and the bigger the reaction.)
4. All prizes are good.
5. Never do anything on the show that would embarrass a parent with a kid watching.
6. Never put on a prize that would make the show look cheap.
7. It’s the game, stupid! (It’s about the game.)

My only knowledge of this is that the Australian version of TPIR called the mountain climber "Cliff." On that version, "Cliff" had a dog named "Spot" join him up the mountain.

A contestant this season told Drew his name is Cliff and (almost?) every appearance of the game this season Drew has mentioned this.

Yep. They played the game late last week and we got the Cliff explanation up front.
