Countdown to Show 7000!

Still a little early, but what do you think they will do for it?

Hopefully, Barker at least makes an appearance with Drew. That would be nice.

I don't think Bob will make an appearance.  I'm not anti-Bob; I just don't think that he will make an appearance now that he's retired.  It may also be too soon for him to make an appearance.

As for what they will do: balloons, references to it be the 7000th show, expensive prizes--often what they do for a season premiere.

Then again, "#7,000" could be WAY off - every single "X,000" episode has been off, along with some others:

-July 2nd, 1976: Bob claims it to be #1,000; Instead it was 950 - the REAL 1,000 being on November 8th (or November 5th if #0013D is counted).
-February 13th, 1981: Celebrated as #2,000; Instead it was 1,912 - the REAL 2,000 being on September 10th.
-September 20th, 1982: Bob claims it to be #2,254; Instead it was 2,203 - December 2nd had the REAL 2,254.
-October 1st, 1986: Celebrated as #3,000; Actually 2,996 - the real 3,000 was the following Tuesday (or Monday if #5811D is counted).
-January 31st, 1992: Celebrated as #4,000; Actually 3,992 - the real 4,000 being on February 12th.
-April 9th, 1998: Celebrated as #5,000 (with tons of stuff saying so); That episode was 5,132! The true 5,000 was back on September 16th, 1991!
-March 9th, 2004: Touted as #6,000; But actually this episode is 6,145! The true 6,000 was WAAAAY back on MAY 6TH, 2003! (...or May 5th if #1513X is counted)
-April 16th, 2005 (MDS 14): Rich states during Showcase #1 that there were 6,197 shows taped; At the time, they had taped through the April 13th show, which was #6,342.
-January 30th, 2007: Bob claims it's #6,500; Nice try, but this was actually 6,645.

...And I'm done.

You sure about the real 5,000th air date?

I was just making a joke, didn't mean any intent by it. Just found it funny.

This has probably been asked before, but does anybody have any clue how the episode count got so messed up in the first place?

My question is...does anyone have #2000 and #3000 (the celebratory eps) in their collection and would they be willing to trade?

I would definitely make it worth your while.

Honestly, I doubt anything will be done, at least this year -- I'm not sure most of the staff is really aware of how far off the episode count is.

Joe does take smilies the wrong way, so that may have something to do with it.  I thought it was obvious you were making a joke--even without the smilie.

Oh Lordy help me, I don't even know technically WHEN #7000 would be  :-?

I guess for me, I'll have to wait and see when and if anything is done this season.

Assuming a new show on Christmas followed by a week of reruns, it'll be January 20.

Now that would be a must-see show this coming season! Price Past meets Price Present.

Obviously, it wouldn't matter, since they're behind anyway, but does Price get pre-empted on that day due to the presidential inauguration?
