For the hardest Cliff Hangers playing in decades, that sure was a "meh" prize being played for.  But by jove, when was the last time they legitimately tried to get a loss out of that game?!

Yeah, obviously Cliffy was set up to be loss...........I was surprised that the pitcher would be that pricey. Then again, Ronald was playing for a pretty "meh" prize that involved visually rectangular images.  :rollold: At least after the "death" of Hans, Ronald kinda got away with murder (Metaphorically speaking, of course) with his SC win.

Other than that:

THE BOTTOM LINE:

A Baggy bail and a solid Mathy win..............After that, it pretty much went south. It's one thing to have a week with short lineups. It's another to add it on with some hard setups and some lazy and cheap prizes, like today.

It's in the Bag: 1 of my favorite games. Interesting to start the game with a really expensive GP as opposed to the usual cheap price on the 1st bag. $4,000 is a decent hall on this game.

Do the Math: 1 of my favorite 2 prize games. The televisions are very nice prizes and great to see this won. I do tend to forget that cash is also won in this game and had forgotten until Drew mentioned it that today's contestant won $999 as well the ATV and the TVs.

Money Game: My favorite game. Unfortunately this was set up for a loss today with the 37 being the back half.

Double Prices: This is the 1 game I genuinely wish would be retired. The Hawaii trip was a fantastic prize though and it's too bad it wasn't won.

Any Number: The most classic game and 1 of my favorites. It looked good at the start and went downhill.

Cliffhangers: It was set up for a loss. That is obvious when you see the difference of the ARP in SP 1 and the ARP of SP 2. However it should have NOT have been lost in the way it was. $20 for the 3rd was a very poor guess. Given that SP 2 was $
 SP 3 was going to be at least $46. The SPs in Cliffhangers have ascending ARPs.

Showcases: In spite of being cheaper I much preferred the showcase that was won. It had a car and I'm not a boat person at all.

I really liked the lineup but some hard setups contributed to too low a win total to be a good show with 1 full win.

« Last Edit: January 22, 2014, 05:07:47 PM by moneygamelover »
Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Magic Number.

Checking the recap, one thing I'm noticing with Cliff Hangers... I THINK $20-$30-$40 would STILL have produced a win... does it count as a win if Hans stops exactly on the $25 mark? Since, if I'm right...

$20 vs $20 -> $0
$30 vs $45 -> $15
$40 vs $50 -> $10
---------------------
TOTAL ------> $25

Yes, the mountain climber can stop on exactly $25 and the contestant win.
Pardon my language, but I do believe we all need to calm the f*** down.

Moreso, if you're savvy enough to know the 20-30-40 strategy you're probably also aware of the increasing prices trick, in which case you'd know the pop maker has to be at least $45 and therefore would've guessed $55 to cover the range from $45-$65 on it instead of $40.

I thought Cliffhangers was easy, honestly.

20 bucks is the right guess on price one, so you lose nothing.

30 on the pitcher still leaves you ten to go.

And knowing it was 45, and knowing it's a device that freezes things, you gotta bid 55-60 on the last item, either being a winner.

The sailboat showcase bid. Sheesh.
