Other trades of note:

The Yankees swap Kelly Johnson for Stephen Drew of the Red Sox. It's the first trade between the rivals since 1997.

Boston also trades John Lackey to the Cards for Allen Craig and Joe Kelly.

Johnson for Drew sounds like a swap of bad contracts. Both have been awful this season.

Atlanta does a little horse trading. They get IF/OF Emilio Bonifacio and LHP James Russell from the Cubs in exchange for Class A pitcher Victor Caratini and cash considerations. The Dodgers sweep the Braves; Clayton Kershaw is lights out. His ERA in July was 1.07.

The Giants have cut bait with Dun Uggla, who refused reassignment to AAA Fresno.

Tony Bosch, founder of Biogenesis, has been arrested and now awaits trial. He's pleading guilty to distributing PED's a year after a dozen players were suspended by MLB.

It looks like the Price was wrong for the Detroit Tigers. David Price has allowed 2 home runs tonight in less than 5 full innings. Maybe that trade wasn't so smart after all.
Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Magic Number.

Because 5 innings does a trade make....

After today's Tigers loss and Royals win the Royals are within 1/2 a game of the Tigers in the A.L. Central. Wouldn't it be something if the Royals actually won the division, especially considering the Royals haven't tasted the postseason since their 1985 World Series triumph. And right now the Royals are playing quality baseball. It could happen.

Tigers front office needs to go. Why put two pitchers on the DL before Sunday's game if you don't plan on replacing them?

Seems the Royals are indeed the real deal. They're now in first place by winning their game against the A's coupled with Detroit losing theirs and potentially JV to injury.

Atlanta is slowly circling the drain. They've lost 12 of their last 15, and with 42 games to go it's not looking any easier.

Yankees and Blue Jays are fading as well. The A.L. East appears to belong to the Orioles.
