Now that the honeymoon phase is over for Time Is Money, I'm going to predict that no contestant will win the full $20,000 this season barring some rule or procedure change.

(With the exception of Big Money Week, where I will predict that they will want to showcase the new game by playing it for $100,000 and setting it up to be easy.)

Or it could be the $1,000,000 game we've heard about. Only you only have 5 seconds :) And all 5 of the products are actually > $6 :)

Was the tape date listed on the back of your shirt? i noticed the one time you had your back turned, that put that play at home plug on the TV during the 2nd SCSD.

No - the tape date was not (the actual date was 8/4/2014).  We had the hashtag #tpir2014 on our shirts.

A budget show...in the middle of October?
Fascinating stuff, sir. Mind you, your entire post was, but these are the portions I wished to quote so I could indeed congratulate you. :-)

Further, I would expect a spinning gold star and "TPIR Alumnus" title to appear under your name in due time. :-)
An episode which, had it not been for the miracle Check Game victory, would have awarded less than $10,000...and without the Big Wheel winnings, just under $7,000.

Ooh, I get a flashing title under my name?  Fun!!!  To spin the Big Wheel has always been a dream of mine - I didn't care about anything else!

That moment where the contestant did not place all five items on the drums, and had to be told they would not get $20,000 was a bit awkward. I thought of one of two solutions to eliminate that awkward pause:

1. Have the money countdown immediately begin after the ten seconds, so the contestant would have to press the button after their first guess.

2. Even though it goes against the name of the game, have the initial guess not have a time limit, and then only after the initial guess does the countdown begin.

I actually like the idea of having the first try be untimed. The thing is it's really really hard to pick up some items place them, run back to where the items are first placed to get the rest of the items, and place the rest of the items in ten seconds. I like the idea of one untimed chance and after that let the money evaporate as is.
Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Magic Number.

If the first guess was untimed, contestants would take forever and a day asking the audience where each item goes. I do agree that 10 seconds is a bit too short-15 seconds would be fairer-but the last two contestants showed that getting all 5 items on the table in time is not impossible.
