[Spoiler] NEW PRICING GAME speculation Thread
« on: September 17, 2015, 02:03:03 AM »
Alright guys, in the CBS press release regarding Premiere Week, it was announced that this season's new pricing game will be called Vend-O-Price. Any thoughts on how this game will look/be played, and what it will be played for?

My guess:
Prop: Vending machine filled with snack food items, junk food, candy bars, etc.
Prize: a trip or a car
Play: The contestant is given some dollars and cents, say $3.00 for instance. A target remaining amount is revealed, let's say it's $0.25, which is the maximum they are allowed to have left over. The contestant must spend his or her dollars and cents down to the target balance by picking items to buy from the vending machine. Let's limit the amount of picks to be 4 items. Items may only be bought once, and in single quantity (unlike Grocery Game and Bullseye) . If the contestant has spent more than he or she started out with, they lose. If the contestant exhausts their 4 picks and their remaining balance is more than $0.25, they lose. The game is won when the contestant has spent their money down to between $0 and $0.25.

Thoughts?
I'd also love to hear your ideas.

Because the game title was made available via publicly available info (in this case a press release), I've got no problem with it's title being disclosed, however, I have tagged the spoiler and edited the headline.   Link to the PR is below.

Please note that everything aside from the title most likely represents speculation on the original poster's part.  Thanks!

I hope the gameplay fares better than the name of the game itself.
Torgo has left the building. John and I never really cared for the way he presented himself.

Can't wait to see how things go! It almost reminds me of the "Telephone game"

Grand game and wrikent, are you making those comments based on information available about the game, or based just on its name or the guess that pricefan made about the gameplay format?

Well, even though there were two parts to the "Telephone game", just looking at the posts made me want to compare it to a retro type game. Even though Vend-O-Price is brand new, my thoughts were based on Pricefan95's guess about how the new game is played. You needed a dime (I think) in order to be able to use the telephone in the telephone game.

So in other words, it doesn't really "remind" you of anything -- you're just talking for the sake of saying something.

I wonder if Vend-O-Price might be a sort of reboot of Credit Card, with products instead of prizes, and you have to buy a certain number of items and not spend more than a certain amount, which will change from each playing, as Credit Card did.

It's a crapshoot to guess.

Since Drew took over, we've had a car game (Gas Money), two cash-prize games (Time is Money & Pay the Rent), and two one-guess games in Double Cross & Do The Math.

But I love when they get creative every season and put another one together.
Shows I Attended:

#0342L, #0314L, #0315L, #0321L, #0322L,
#0511L, #0513L & #0515L

My thoughts went along with a 2 stage game as well.  But not like telephone game.  My thoughts were a game was played with pricing small items to earn as much money for the vending machine as possible.  Then with earned money the contestant can buy as many items from the machine they can afford.  Only one item is attached to winning a car or whatnot.  Like Bonus Game in a way.

It certainly sounds like a GP game based on the name, though there's no need for another one of those. Thinking about areas of need, I'd guess it's either a quickie (to take pressure off of Flip Flop and Coming or Going) or a two-prizer (Switch? and Bargain Game).

Then with earned money the contestant can buy as many items from the machine they can afford.

Like the old Wheel of Fortune shopping round? That would be an interesting concept.
