During Switcheroo...

Will Drew please learn that it is IMPORTANT THAT THE CONTESTANT DOES WORRY ABOUT THE FOUR SMALL PRIZES!  They are important.  The more prizes that the contestant knows and gets right HELPS them win the game!  He just doesn't get it and it drives me nuts when he says just worry about the car.

The car has an arbitrary number in it (gee, it could be anything) but the four small prizes have real specific prices.  If you know what the four prizes cost the car number will fall into place.

It seems almost everybody (certainly on this board) knows that.  But this is another situation where Drew just doesn't get it!

Drew pretending to model the diamond ring was pretty funny.
The vegas wheel was weird, it was kinda like buying the imitation cereal at the grocery store, kinda the same.. but cheaper.
You people make me sick.  Every last one of you.

It's not the host's job to give strategy. Most people are going to worry about the car because that is the prize they really want - not to knock the show, or its prizes, but do you really think somebody is going to worry about a coffee pot, even if it is strategically helpful to get the smaller prizes first? Of course not.

(incidentally, I bet my fiancée $10 that somebody would complain about Switcheroo today on G-R... I win!)

Vegas Wheel: I really think that Drew should've mentioned something about the Vegas wheel, along the lines of "Our wheel is in the shop, but don't worry, it'll be back soon!" This only confuses viewers.

Drew IS indeed giving strategy...but the wrong strategy ("only worry about the car")

Pushover nailed it, mrbrown.  It's not the host's job to give strategy, and I certainly agree with that.  Bob didn't tell contestants to put the zero last in Ten Chances, and Bob didn't tell contestants how to play Switcheroo... but ah, that's the problem, you see.  Drew is telling contestants how they should play.  Which, honestly, wouldn't be a problem, except that he's giving them bad advice on how to play.  If he's going to give strategy, it really shouldn't be bad strategy.

Was it just me, or did the Vegas wheel seem to slow bizarrely?  Like it would go really fast, then just stop on a dime.  It was kinda' jarring to watch.  Is this wheel lighter than the regular wheel, because it looked like it was stopping more like a lighter wheel would.

I retract my previous statement and substitute it for yours.

Switcheroo:  A goose egg on both trys - Ouchie mama!
Make Your Move:  Good job! :-)
Side By Side:  Man, she had it for a second there!  Ouch!
One Wrong Price:  Too bad! :-(  I thought the lawn mower was more expensive than $980 too.
Pass The Buck:  Well, the car wasn't won, but $1,000 isn't bad at all. :-)  It could've been worse - Susan S. could've picked the other Lose Everything on her second and final pick!
Pick A Number:  Rats! :-(  It's pretty rare to see a price that ends in 00 on Pick A Number!

Not too good overall, IMHO.  I wonder why they were using the Vegas wheel today. ???

It's as I have said in previous forums about "Switcheroo." It is always a good idea for potential contestants of TPiR to watch the show and get a good understanding of the game before standing in line.

After all, if he is called to "Come On Down!" and wins his one bid, he might just be playing "Switcheroo."

Of course the primary objective is to win the car. That is the most desirable prize of the five. But anyone who has watched TPiR knows that it might be a good idea to place the car number LAST rather than "just worry about the car."

It seems to me that, while Drew's well-intentioned advice may had a small part in the loss, it was more the contestant's lack of placing the numbers correctly (or logically) that caused this wipeout.

Sorry for defending Drew again, but that's how I see it.

Me and the fam were in attendance on this one.  Interestingly and surprisingly enough, after Beverly didn't win the car, Drew made an interesting comment during the break.  He said, I paraphrase "Don't worry, Beverly, it's only material goods.  We all know what's really important as we live our life".

We were close to Beverly in line, she was really funny.  In fact, the whole crowd was in a wild mood, I'm assuming it's always like that.

Several groups were in attendance, I know I saw contestant numbers over 300, and the elevated section was used.  Several 5a.m.ers didn't make it in.  We had the online studio tickets.

I wonder if that's why Switchy has such a horrible record in the Drew era. Perhaps.

Gotta give this a C+ today - just nothing memorable. I can guess another reason why the Vegas wheel only lasted a week - the beeping was way off-key!!

I'm not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, so correct me if I'm wrong.  This is the only episode to feature the Vegas wheel.

Drew Era: 1-10 (.091)

Bob Era (Seasons 29-35): 17-54 (.239)

Contestants so far are more than twice as likely to win in the Bob Era then in the Drew Era.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, so correct me if I'm wrong.  This is the only episode to feature the Vegas wheel.

I think you are correct.  Only that Tuesday's afternoon taping involved the Vegas wheel.

Good grief?!?!? What was up with all of the quick games today? It didn't seem like that long of a lineup. Speaking of lineups, that was not much of a lineup after the 1st three games was it?

Seeing Side by Side and Pick a Number in the same show was pretty cool, you won't see that very often.  Having those two  paired with One Wrong Price and Pass the Buck? Not so good.
