Hello and welcome back to FPG. This week marks the first of 4 playoff games this season. Up to 12 people can survive into next week's match; that depends on how many games you pick and how well you can slot and predict how these games will turn out.

Play-Along doesn't count, so you don't need to add it to your lineups when you submit.

Good luck out there.

==========

SPOILERS: Don't believe we've got anything out there for this one.

THIS WEEK'S LINEUPS (highlight to view):

The TALK Is Right / Re: Giving The Show Another Chance
« Last post by thatvhstapeguy on May 16, 2024, 11:58:32 AM »
I was waiting for him to pause and tease before pushing the buttons on the reveal, but he would be back talking with the contestant and then just go up and hit them at all speed without saying anything at that moment.

Drew doesn't always do this; when I played Pocket he got me real good with a fake on the (winning) last card... and half of it didn't make it out of the edit bay.

Families of that size, after winning that much are likely not going to turn down that prize.

He owns a minority stake in the Seattle Sounders.
And he does some satellite radio stuff on the side. He is in no need of launching a new sitcom or touring with a heavy schedule. If he wants to do some less visible things that interest him, great. More power to him for following his path.

So we go from a brief improvement, to a likely budget cut since I'd assume more families will decline such a prize if they're not interested in the destination and are also sponsored by the resort to save on the overhead. If you can't raise the top prize (and what's worse the $5/point for not winning Fast Money, which is worth practically pennies on the dollar/point in 1976 dollars), at least have a good compromise, such as maybe another $20,000 for winning five games.

Some of you may be familiar with some of David Sanborn's music during the Local Forecast segments of The Weather Channel, including "Breaking Point", "Let's Just Say Goodbye", and "Lotus Blossom". IIRC I've heard perhaps his most famous composition, "The Dream" on the network before even if its unconfirmed according to TWC Classics.

Roxanne Rosedale (known professionally simply as Roxanne), the assistant on the original Bud Collyer version of "Beat the Clock," passed away on May 2nd, 2024 at an assisted care facility in her hometown of Minneapolis at the age of 95.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/roxanne-dead-beat-the-clock-seven-year-itch-1235899381/

Before BTC, Roxanne was also the assistant to the first-ever Goodson-Todman TV production (and CBS game show that was carried on at least two stations), Winner Take All, when it was hosted by Bud Collyer from 1948 to 1950.

I was there with you Jacob....I did 5 shows in 3 days.  I think you did 6 in 3.  I didn't get to come on down..but came home with Covid :(

I sat next to  Michael who won a Trip to Hawaii.  I am heading back for shows June 3-5..One more try before the end of taping for the year

That's a bummer. You didn't get to come on down and you got sick. I hope you recovered from it.

The next calldown, Fran, was one seat away from her spot. :P

4th IUFB - A new sailboat: Snark Sunflower sailboat that carries 2 adults or 4 children and weighs only 45 pounds, easily transportable (Janice)

|Orville|Lori|Serena|FRAN|
|$650|$740|$675|$795|

BUZZ! BUZZ! BUZZ! We're sure Bob's resisting the urge to snark about this one. It'll be smooth sailing once we get bids lower than $650.

|Orville|Lori|Serena|FRAN|
|$400|$460|$365|$490|

Bob was somewhat distracted as he accidentally pulled out the Actual Retail Price too early, and he had forgotten the lowest bid from earlier. He didn't want anyone to see the bid. The cameraman isn't interested in Bob's problems. :rollold:

Actual Retail Price: $499!

Fran is playing Squeeze Play for a new pool table: Murrey & Sons handcrafted 3.5-by-7 billiard table, elegance in the art of billiards, slate top antique design (Dian)

| 1 4 2 9 5 |
| – – – – – |

Fran pulls out the 2...except that it's stuck in there. First, Bob has trouble with the envelope, and now he can't pull the digit in this game.

To make things worse, the 9 is tilted, and Bob insists on neatness. He pushes it in, but then the 4 tilts, and then he has to finish with a kick. :oldlol:

After all that, let's reveal the price!

| $ 1 4 9 5 |
| $ 1 4 9 5 |

Fran wins the pool table! It was worth all that damage from Bob!

5th IUFB - A bamboo rolling bar: Maurice Duchin, Inc. rolling bar that opens to become a bar or buffet server, yet folds together for storage, with 3 tempered glass shelves and serving accessories, rolls easily (Holly)

|Orville|Lori|Serena|FRANCES|
|$375|$420|$300|$350|

Actual Retail Price: $360!

Frances is playing Cliff Hangers for a new piano: Story & Clark elegant piano made for many years of enjoyment with distinctive cabinetry and bright full console tone, a prize worth $2,195 (Janice).

Frances can keep the Mountain Climber safe by pricing these small items (Dian):
1. Beacon thermal blanket that lets you warm up the natural way with a blanket for all seasons, 100% cotton and easy care
2. 1 pair of Vitality shoes for women, famous for fashion and fit, flexible, and genuinely kind to the feet
3. Kodak Colorverse 50 instant camera that automatically delivers a sharp clear picture

Frances thinks the price of the blanket is $29 (she starts with $29.95, but Bob wants a rounded number).

*BUZZ* The Mountain Climber goes up the mountain...and stops at 6. The price is...

$35

Frances thinks the price of the shoes is $45.

*BUZZ* The Mountain Climber goes up the mountain...and stops at 21. The price is...

$30

Frances thinks the price of the camera is $59.

*BUZZ* The Mountain Climber goes up the mountain...and *CRASH!* Let's snap the Mountain Climber mid-fall, shall we?

$45

Frances will return for the Showcase Showdown after our final pricing game.

After the first item, we're stuck in a blue streak. Now at least one of our middles is going to be stuck in the First Four Breakfast Club.

Before the calldown, Bob notices a lot of enthusiasm for Orville from the ladies in the audience. Why do they like him so much? One audience member thinks he's cute. Has he always been popular? He doesn't know. But he is married, and he has been for 39 years! Wasn't there at least one or two girls who were broken-hearted when he married the girl he married? He's silent...but his wife in the audience says yes.
:P

6th IUFB - A beautiful lady's watch: Benrus watch featuring 32 sparkling diamonds, Italian mesh bracelet, and 17-joule movement (Janice)

|Orville|Lori|Serena|KEITH|
|$600|$580|$800|$795|

BUZZ! BUZZ! BUZZ! We'll be broken-hearted if we can't give this watch away, so we'll politely ask for bids lower than $580.

|Orville|Lori|Serena|KEITH|
|$450|$320|$325|$360|

Actual Retail Price: $500!

The audience has spoken. Lori and Serena apparently weren't the picks, except as new entries to the First Four Breakfast Club.

As Orville is retired, he's been watching the show every single day.

Orville is playing Dice Game for a new car: Renault Le Car with 4-cylinder engine, front-wheel drive, steel belted radial tires, and 4-speed transmission (Dian).

Also, if he wins the car, he will receive a Page Alert silent car alarm (Dian).

Holly and Janice wheel in the Dice Game table.
