"CBS will air The Price Is Right's 7,000th episode on Thursday, November 5, 2009, which will feature (some pricing games that I won't mention).

This will also be Rich Fields 1,001st episode announcing on the show and for Drew Carey it will be his 415th episode hosting the show.

There have been over 2,000,000 people welcomed to the studio audience and over 7,000 cars have been given away (theme hint there) with the show giving away almost $250 million in cash and prizes to almost 62,000 contestants that appeared on the show.

Who knows what showcases will be featured to commemorate the number 7,000..... "

Since when was Rich's 2nd show ever the 6000th?
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

Good point.  A couple of things I can think of:
1- The show's numbering system has been way off, and who knows if there have truly been 1000 taped shows since the celebratorial 6,000th show?
2- MDS's included?
3- The 6,000th show aired in March 2004; Rich began announcing duties in April, not too far away.

From CBS

WARNING: Indirect spoiler of games in there.  They're not named, but you'll know what they are.
They can be close at the top, too.

The Official Show News section, or as tpirfan28 pointed out, directly from CBS.

By the way, in the CBS link above, look at the last paragraph, in particular:

Quote
THE PRICE IS RIGHT is now in its 38th year and is television's longest-running game show.  It is a Mark Goodson Production, in association with FremantleMedia, North America, Inc.  Mike Richards is executive producer, Kathy Greco the producer and Rich DiPirro, the director.  The series is broadcast weekdays (11:00 AM-12:00 Noon, ET; 10:00-11:00 AM, PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Close.  It's actually 1,001...although this is just another small hint that for some reason, last year's Veteran's Day program isn't being counted as a daytime show even though it was one.

I don't know what I was thinking but I meant ceremonial, not celebratorial, which is not a word!   8-O

I read the press release but I don't know for sure that it actually spoils anything.  I'm going to be careful how I phrase this, but they don't spell out what the lineup will be (at least I don't think so).  Hint extremely indirectly, yes, but that's all.  It would help if I knew more about what they do reference, but it's no big deal either way.

EDIT:  sjd93, you're right, it's not actually spoiled.  To folks like me, who don't know certain specific details, it's just interesting facts.

Well, they don't spoil all the games. But they do state very obviously (obvious at least to the people that know the show) details about certain games being played.

I find it ironic how the show tries to mix up the prizes and offer "cool" things like over-stuffed trips and impossible to price items to make the show less "predictable." Yet, the same things happen every single time a show airs.

Here's exactly what they say, with the relevant details deleted to prevent those who don't want to know from finding out ahead of time...

In addition, __________ games that are played were also ___________________________________.

If you know the circumstances of the games that "were also ______________," you'll know what the games are.
Fun fact: Evelyn Wong, the 5th person to be called on the first show (9/4/72), was actually the very first contestant to directly be called to come on down!  The original first four (Sandy Flornor, Paul Levine, Connie Donnel, Myra Carter) were individually told to stand up, and then, as a group, were invited to come on down.

This is starting to feel like Match Game all of a __________.     I don't know the circumstances of games that "were also ___________," and the only site that I know of where I could get that (TPiR.TV) has mysteriously disappeared.  I looked in the FAQ but I didn't see it there.  Anyone know anyplace else I could fill in the blanks?

If this is what I think it is, check the lineup calendars.

I think it would be really cool if for this show they did kind of a 'retro' episode. Use the old light border, play only classic music, maybe even use the old props (if any of them are still around) for the games they play.
